Matt Dimond
Managing Director - Client Capital
Matt Dimond is Head of Client Capital at Sequoia Investment Management Company, joining the team in 2022. He has primary responsibility for working with both existing and new investors in the firm’s products and for evaluating and proposing new strategies for clients.
Over the last decade, Mr Dimond has focused on product development and capital-raising in the two key areas of real asset investments – infrastructure and real estate, and has previously worked in senior roles at InfraRed Capital Partners and Swiss Life. He has led product launches and international client-facing activities for both private and public markets structures, such as the TRIG listed renewable energy fund and new private vehicles for Swiss Life’s Pan-European real estate range. Earlier in his career, Mr Dimond worked across Europe and Asia in investment banking roles at UBS Warburg and Macquarie, based in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo, during which time he advised clients on international M&A and equity capital-raising, and he also spent eight years in M&A and principal investments with GE Capital.
Mr Dimond graduated with an MA in Classics from University College at Oxford, and with an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
Georgi Teofilov
Managing Director and Head of Credit
Georgi joined Sequoia in 2015. Prior to that he gathered investment experience at an AIM-listed private equity fund and developed his advisory skills at KPMG. At Sequoia he has analysed and executed investments in power, utilities, renewables, waste to energy, sub-sea communications and shipping. Georgi holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, a postgraduate diploma in Infrastructure Investment and Finance from University College London and passed all three levels of the CFA Program in 2005.
David Fussell
Executive Director and Operating Officer
David joined Sequoia in 2017, and is responsible for originating, analysing, executing and supporting the ongoing management of Sequoia’s infrastructure investments. His sector experience includes renewable energy, telecommunications (specifically datacentres and towers), healthcare and specialist shipping. Prior to this, David gained exposure to a variety of alternative asset classes, raising capital for boutique investment managers from a global institutional investor base. David is a CFA charterholder, holds a BComm Honours specialising in Financial Management from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He passed all three levels of the CFA exam on the first attempt.
Tim Prussing
Executive Director
Tim joined Sequoia in 2021. He has over 11 years’ experience advising on and lending to infrastructure investments, with a particular focus on power, utilities, and renewables. Most recently prior to Sequioa, Tim worked as a Project Finance lender at MUFG. Prior, he worked in KPMG’s Infrastructure Advisory team, as well as an advisor to the UK Government on business models for emerging energy technologies. Tim is a CFA Charterholder, and holds a MCom in Financial Management, a BCom (Honours) in Economics and a BCom in Economics and Finance, all from the University of Cape Town.
Rahul Narang
Senior Vice President
Rahul joined Sequoia in October 2020. He has been advising on Infrastructure financings since 2012, following completion of his ACA qualification from ICAEW. He has diverse experience across Renewables, Transport and Core+ Infrastructure assets in UK and Europe. He has structured and executed debt transactions in project and corporate finance and supported clients in several buy-side transactions with value in excess of £1bn. Prior to Sequoia, Rahul worked in KPMG’s Infrastructure Advisory team and at debt capital markets specialists, Centrus Financial Advisors.
Charles-Olivier Douala
Vice President
Charles-Olivier joined Sequoia in January 2021. Prior to that, he gathered investment experience at the private equity fund DWS and developed his advisory and arranging skills at Credit Agricole CIB. His sector experience includes inter-alia transportation (specifically rail), energy-from waste and regulated utilities. Charles-Olivier graduated from EMLYON Business School.
Thomas Potter
Vice President
Thomas joined Sequoia in August 2021. Prior to this he worked at MUFG for five years, most recently in the Structured Finance team where he supported the advisory and lending activities of their Project Finance franchise across multiple sectors including Power, Renewables, and Core Infrastructure. Thomas holds a first class honours degree in Accounting & Finance from the University of Bath and has passed all three levels of the CFA Program.
Reem ElAshmawy
Vice President and Portfolio Manager
Reem is Portfolio Manager and joined Sequoia in January 2018 as an Intern Analyst before joining as a full-time employee in June 2018. Prior to her internship at Sequoia, Reem completed a Master of Science in Advanced Chemical Engineering with Distinction at Imperial College London. In June 2019, Reem passed all three levels of the CFA exam on the first attempt and will be eligible for chartership upon completion of the required work experience. Also, she holds a First-Class Honours bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University College London (UCL).
Daniel Hoodeh
Head of Fund Operations
Daniel joined Sequoia in June 2021. Prior to this, he worked at Northern Trust Corporation as Assistant Vice President in their Derivatives team. Daniel provided oversight to Operational teams in Bangalore, Chicago and London. His area of expertise was Collateral Management, covering exposures for Cleared Swaps, FX Forwards and Longevity Swaps for reinsurance deals. Daniel holds an MSc in International Business as well as BA (Hons) in Law and Business from the University of Liverpool.
Thomas Theis
Portfolio Analyst
Thomas joined Sequoia in June 2021 as an Intern. Prior to joining the firm, Thomas was a student at the London School of Economics completing a MSc in Financial Mathematics . In addition, Thomas holds a first class honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Aberdeen. During his undergraduate studies, he focused on Applied Mathematics and Computing Science.
Leah Dean
ESG Associate and Sustainability Manager
Leah joined Sequoia in February 2023. Prior to this, Leah worked at AKO Capital, one of Europe’s leading hedge funds. She began as a Language and Behaviour Analyst before transitioning into her role as an ESG Analyst, with wide-ranging responsibilities from integrating ESG into the investment process to client reporting to company engagement. She holds a first-class honours degree in Linguistics from the University of Cambridge and is a certified ICAEW Business and Finance Professional.
Juan Santamaria
Senior Associate
Juan joined Sequoia as a full-time employee in November 2021, after joining as an MBA intern in July 2021. Prior to this, he worked at Credicorp Capital for nearly 8 years in Colombia and Peru, most recently in the Structured Loans team. In that role, he structured and analysed more than thirty syndicated and bilateral loans worth over US$ 3.0bn of debt for companies in multiple economic sectors. He led fifteen of these projects, including a US$ 350m project finance for a toll road concession in Peru. Juan is an Industrial Engineer from the Universidad de Los Andes (2013) and holds an MBA from the London Business School.
Charles Fox
Associate
Charles completed an internship at Sequoia in 2019 before joining full-time as an Analyst in 2020. Prior to taking his position as an analyst, Charles obtained a first class degree in Engineering Science from Brasenose College, Oxford. Mr Fox then worked as a machine learning researcher at the Oxford e-Research Centre, continuing work on his Masters thesis by applying machine learning techniques to radio pulsar detection, and subsequently joined Sequoia.
Keeler Mears
Associate
Keeler joined Sequoia in July 2019 as an Intern Analyst before joining as a full-time Analyst in September 2019. Keeler is involved in the origination and execution of new investments, as well as the management of portfolio assets. Prior to joining the firm, Keeler was a Credit Analyst at Walker and Dunlop in Boston, Massachusetts, where he performed asset management duties for institutional portfolios of commercial real estate debt investments. Prior to Walker and Dunlop, Keeler was an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at RBC Capital Markets in London, where he worked on the real estate financing team.
Keeler holds a Bachelors of Arts (Honours) in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Science in Climate Change, Management and Finance from Imperial College London.
Tim Bekenov
Associate
Tim joined Sequoia in 2020. Prior to Sequoia, Tim worked at Bloomberg and IHS Markit in Fixed Income product management roles. Tim holds a Master’s in Finance degree from London Business School with concentration on Investment Management & Analysis. He also has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Gloucestershire and is a CFA Charterholder.
Amelia Schmid
Analyst
Amelia joined Sequoia during the summer of 2022 as an intern and, following graduation, joined Sequoia as an Analyst in September 2023. Amelia graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Banking and Finance from the University of Leeds.
Sonia John-Lewis
Office Manager
Sonia joined Sequoia in September 2017. Ms John-Lewis previously worked at Praesta Partners (Executive Coaching Company) headed up by four partners. Her duties involved running a smooth office and shadowing the partners at client meetings. Ms John-Lewis has over 10 years in Office Management working for different organizations, including Rt. Hon. Diane Abbott (MP).
